This past week many of our team members served in Vacation Bible School at our church. They played games, made crafts, and learned about Jesus along with many of the children of Frisco Bible Church. In VBS, there is also a fundraiser portion for a mission of choice. This past week, the kids brought money they earned from doing chores and helping around the house to support our Costa Rica team!

There was a competition between boys and girls to see who could bring the most money. Each team had a representative, Nate Gosvenor and Luke Byrd for the boys, plus Erin Chappelle and Rylie Huckelberry for the girls. At the end of the week, the team with the most money got to dump “gorilla snot” (applesauce, oatmeal, and chocolate pudding) on the losing teams representatives.

Throughout the week, we had groups of 2 or 3 people from our team go onto the stage in front of all the kids and talk about what we will be doing there, and what we’re excited about. We also talked about how they could help us by praying for us and being a missionary in their own life; telling others about Jesus in everyday circumstances.

At the end of the week, the boys brought a total of $619.50, and the girls a total of $685.70. This makes a grand total of $1,305.20 for our Costa Rica team to use! How amazing! We are so blessed in this way, but sadly for Nate and Luke, they had snot poured on them. (Ew!)

Personally, this week I was a crew leader. I was in awe about how willing these kids were to earn money to support all of us. I had parents telling me that their kids asked to pray for the team and I at the dinner table, and that they were pouring out their piggy banks to see how they could donate. It has become evident to me now that it was not anything we said or did that made them want to do that, but was the Holy Spirit working in and through us. God has done some amazing work, and we haven’t even left yet! This has me feeling even more excited to go than before. (Less than 2 weeks, people!)

Please continue to be praying for us as we get these last minute preparations done and enjoy these pictures!
